Dr. Jayson Ibañez specialized in the integration of local knowledge and Western Science in rural development planning within Indigenous territories in the Philippines. Apart from conservation research on endangered species, he also dedicates his time with Indigenous people on community-based conservation projects.

He attended the Research Institute on the Environment and Livelihoods of Charles Darwin University in 2010 for his doctorate degree. He also holds BS and MSc degrees in Biology and has been working closely with environmental NGOs since 1996.
